Monday, July 18, 2016

The transfer saga of the summer continues to roll on as Manchester United continue their pursuit of Paul Pogba from Juventus.
The £100m-rated midfielder is currently on holiday in the United States with nothing expected to happen until he returns later this month.
But that has not stopped the rumours from persisting, and talkSPORT brings you the latest surrounding his proposed world record move.
No deadline set
Contrary to reports last week, Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola has not put a deadline on the deal to go through, according to the Manchester Evening News. However, United are keen to push the deal through as quickly as possible and talks are expected to intensify once the Frenchman returns from his holidays.

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri believes his side are among the four best clubs in the worldat the moment, implying a move to United would be a backwards step. He told Gazzetta dello Sport: “Pogba belongs to Juve and at the end of the day he too will want to win another Scudetto and hopefully the Champions League."
Not in Juve ICC squad
Pogba has not been included in Juventus’ squad for their pre-season trip to Australia for the International Champions Cup. The 23-year-old is one of 13 players missing for the tournament after he was given an extended break following his exploits at Euro 2016.

Should Juve manage to hold on to Pogba, United will turn their attentions to his France midfield partner Blaise Matuidi, claim French newspaper L’EquipeJose Mourinho is desperate for his fourth ‘priority’ signing, as he mentioned in his first Red Devils press conference early this month, and Matuidi is on his radar.

Personal Terms Agreed, Chelsea Set To Beat Arsenal To Signing Of £38m Star

Having signed N’Golo Kante from Premier League club Leicester City, Chelsea now has to shift attention to other department they want to bolster in the transfer window. With John Terry ageing and likely to retire at the end of the current season, and the fact that Zouma may not remain the player he was before his injury, it is obvious Chelsea could do with the signing of another centre back.
To this end, reports claim the West London club is interested in signing AS Roma’s centre half Kostas Manolas. The Greece international is among numerous centre backs that have been linked with a move to Chelsea this summer. However, Chelsea do not have a monopoly interest in the player as Arsenal are also said to be interested in signing him.
Premier League rivals Chelsea and Arsenal have both agreed personal terms with the player after they both tabled offers worth €4m annually for Manolas according to reports, a fee that is more than what he earns at his present club Roma, according to Italian newspaper La Gazzetta Dello Sport.
The only challenge remains agreeing a transfer fee thanks to the defender’s complex transfer agreement when he signed for Roma from Turkish Super league club Olympiakos as revealed by Football Leaks in April.
The strong centre half would be a decent signing for both Chelsea and Arsenal. Manolas is a solid central defender who has a good tackling and blocking ability. Signing the of the Greek will be a masterstroke for both clubs.
And although he has a complicated agreement with Roma, as cited above, the fact that both Arsenal and Chelsea have tons of money to spend could ensure the complicated agreement is not a barrier. And this is why I think it is Chelsea that will end up signing the former Olympiacos player. It will boil down to who is willing to pay the most money and in that case Chelsea will win easily.
Arsenal surely have a lot of money in their reserve, as can be seen by their financial reports, but it is one thing to have money, it is another thing to be willing to spend it. Arsenal also have the lure of Champions League football to tempt the player to the Emirates but let’s be honest, using the lure of Champions League football alone no longer works these days.
For instance Paul Pogba is about to sign for Manchester United and are not in the Champions League. Kante has signed for Chelsea who are also not in the Champions League. And as they say, money talks, bullshit walks.
Daily reckons Roma are demanding as much as £38m  for the player, an amount we all know Arsenal are unlikely to play for a centre back.

Chelsea have Agreed £61million Key Signing

Infographic---Conte-v-Chelsea2During the European Championships, Chelsea sealed the signing of a top striker in the form of Michy Batshuayi from Ligue 1 side Olympique Marseille.
Now, the Blues have completed their second key signing of the summer by luring French international N’Golo Kante from Premier League champions Leicester City (Chelsea FC).
The 25-year-old defensive midfielder was brilliant for the Foxes last season under the management of Italian boss Claudio Ranieri and deservedly made it into the PFA Team of the Year.
It will be intriguing to see how well he can perform under Chelsea’s Italian boss Antonio Conte. Kante was part of the national side that lost the Euro 2016 final against Portugal.
According to reports in the British media (Daily Mirror), Chelsea agreed a deal of £61 million (£30 million fee with Leicester City and a 5-year contract worth £31 million) to sign the Les Bleus star.
The Blues must now focus on signing a top attacking playmaker this summer.
